Environmental Protection Policy

"Fastening & Securing Our Environment"

On the guidance of Environmental Charter YKK Group, YKK Singapore Pte Ltd has committed its resources towards realising an important element of the Total Quality Basic Policy by observing the following principles of Environment Protection in our business scope of manufacture of zippers, stockholding and supply of fastening products including zippers, hook and loop fasteners, buttons, buckles and other notions:

Principle 1: Prevent Pollution to Our Environment

We have to be aware of the environmental impacts to our air, water and land to ensure that our operations do not pollute the environment. Excessive Noise Pollution must be prevented so as not to deteriorate our living environment. By controlling the consumption of hazardous chemicals in our operations, we are also reducing the risk of polluting our environment through the disposal of such chemical waste.

Principle 2: Protect Our Natural Resources

At every opportunity we have to save our natural resources through Recycling, Re-Use and if possible reduce or optimise our dependence on Natural Resources such as paper consumption and water usage in our processes. By conserving energy, we are also indirectly conserving fossil fuel (a non-renewable energy source) to generate electricity.

Principle 3: Promote Environment Protection Awareness

The strength of our environment protection movement lies in our continuous education policy. Continuous education emphasise on Environment Protection, so that the application of such knowledge would result in an overall awareness and conscious effort to protect our fragile Environment. The promotion effort also extends to third party personnel working at our factory.

Principle 4: Manage and Minimise our Waste

We have to systematically manage and minimise our waste to reduce the likelihood of polluting the environment. Toxic Waste shall be handled by qualified disposal companies to ensure our objective is met.

Principle 5: Be Prepared For Emergencies

We have to be prepared for emergencies in our operations. Emergency Preparedness means that our employees can work safely without the presence of hazards that contribute to an emergency. Preparedness also safeguards our environment from damage during any emergency.

Principle 6: Aim for Continual Improvement

To accomplish this we have to continually improve our Environment Management System to keep our processes and business up to date on handling environmental issues.

Principle 7: Comply to Applicable Legal and Other Requirements

To be a good corporate citizen, it is our moral and legal responsibility to comply with applicable Legal and Other Requirements in our business operation.

To put these principles into action, we have identified all risks in our operation and a continual improvement plan is in place to guide our efforts in preserving our future through Environment Protection. This Policy is made available to the public upon request through our appointed Management Representative.
